Twenty Black historical figures per volume. Classroom-friendly, dignified, and built to last on a child's desk. The first books many children will own about the people who built the country they're inheriting.
We started Spence Heritage Press to fix that on two fronts — for the elders whose lifetimes overlapped with the figures themselves, and for the children who will inherit the story next.
Our books are not generic coloring books with a Black History label slapped on the cover. Each volume is a researched, illustrated, age-appropriate biography of the people whose work made the country what it is. We design every page with one question in mind: will the reader see themselves in this?
Private Investigators. Every clue tells a story.
Three dog detectives — ChiChi Rose, Red Fox, and Chance — solve the small mysteries of growing up, one case at a time. Each book carries a quiet throughline about kindness, friendship, and paying attention to the people around you.
